The senior hurlers lost this competitive encounter by the minimum margin on Monday night at a cold Boucher Road. Both teams battled well and there was never more than 2 points between the teams. Approaching half time we held a 2 point advantage but a Sean Treacy’s goal restored their lead before a Stephen McGivern pointed free levelled right on the half time whistle to leave the score Davitts 0-9 Sean Treacys 1-6.
The second half was much of the same with both teams cancelling each other out. Scores were at a premium and both sides were guilty of striking numerous wides. With the match moving into added time, we trailed by a single point and pushed for the elusive score to level or win the game. We manufactured a goal opportunity but just didn’t make the final connection and then a point attempt drifted wide to see the Lurgan men win by a solitary point.
