The senior footballer made it consecutive wins when defeating Dunloy at Boucher Road on Wednesday night. A win for Dunloy would have seen them level on points at the top of the league but we put in  a solid performance to deservedly take the points.
Dunloy were quick out of the blocks and an early goal had us on the back foot We responded well with Ryan Park blasting to the net to level the scores. The teams then traded a brace of points with Ryan Park slotting over a nice left footed point and Daniel Largey getting his first point of the game. With the scores tied at 1-2, a further point from Daniel Largey and a long range point from Gerard Burns gave us a two point advantage but again Dunloy hit back with two points to level the scores. With half time approaching James Lindsay took possession  of the ball and drove it to the back of the net to send us in at the break with a goal advantage 2-4 to 1-4.
Dunloy started brightly in the second half and added three points, two from frees without reply and the game was level again.  Dunloy put us under pressure but we remained resolute and took the lead with another Gerard Burns point, only for Dunloy to get the equaliser. Both teams pushed for the decisive score that would secure the victory and when Dunloy were awarded a penalty, it looked as if they would take the spoils. However, keeper Damien Nugent got down low to make a tremendous save. This seemed to re-energise us  and we pushed up field, the ball went to substitute Liam McGivern who had his first shot saved, it remained in the small square and when Dunloy failed to clear the danger the ball ended back with Liam who smashed it to the net. Dunloy took the kick out and the referee blew for full time. Final score Davitts 3-5 Dunloy 1-8.
