The senior reserve footballers picked up their second win of the season with a point win away to Naomh Eargnait on Friday evening.
It was Naomh Eargnaits who enjoyed the better of the first half with the aid of two well executed goals but despite this we were very competitive and kept on their coat tails and with points from Chris Gallagher, Gerard Burns (0-2), Stephen Toner, Conor Ferran and Oscar Deevy we trailled by four at the break 2-4 to 0-6.
Points on the restart from Anton McLaughlin, Conor Ferran and Gerard Burns reduced the lead to a single point but another Naomh Eargnait goal and a quick point knocked us out of our stride as they increased their lead to five. However, a Jay Maguire goal response renewed our impetus and with ten minutes to go we had drawn level at 3-6 to 1-12 following points from Jay Maguire and Sean O’Neill, with everything to play for. We continued to press forward and a pointed Gerard Burns free put us in front for the first time in the game. Sean O’Neill extended our lead to two, with the final point of the game from Naomh Eargnait leaving us winners by the minimum margin 3-7 to 1-14.
