This was a game that was lost in the first half as Ard Eoin were the more determined taking a commanding half time lead, one which we never threatened to claw back.
We never really got going in this game as Ard Eoin stamped their mark on the game early on and we struggled to find any rhythm. They say goals win games and three first half goals laid the foundation for the Ard Eoin win. We were relying heavily on points from frees with Gerard Slane (0-2) and Aaron Slane on the mark but this failed to make any dent in the Ard Eoin lead and they held the advantage at the break 3-4 to 0-4 with Gerard Slane adding to our total with a nice point from out on the right side of the pitch.
We put in a better second half performance, outscoring our opponents, but Ard Eoin were never in danger of surrendering their lead. A goal from Danny Wallace and points from Anthony Rowntree (0-2) and Colm McKee were not enough to claw back the deficit and Ard Eoin tagged on 0-3 to deservedly take the win 3-7 to 1-7.
