Gortnamóna completed the double over the senior footballers with a goal win at Páirc Mhic Dháibhéid on Wednesday evening.
Gortnamóna raced into a three point lead early on with a long range effort the pick of the scores which split the posts. However, we responded well to level with three points from the consistent Gerard Slane, all frees. Unfortunately these were to be our only scores of the half as Gortnamóna built up a half time lead 0-3 to 0-7.
We faired slightly better in the second half with points from Danny Wallace, Gerard Slane (0-2) and when CJ Sullivan goaled we were only a point in arrears, 1-6 to 0-10. However, it was Gortnamóna who would finish the game the stronger and with the addition of two points ran out winners 1-6 to 0-12.
