The senior footballers continued their good form with a deserved win over Naomh Padraig at Pairc Mhic Dháibhéid running out 5 point winners.
We got off to a good start and by the 17th minute held a 1-4 to 0-1 lead with scores coming from CJ Sullivan 1-1, his goal an outstanding finish as he hand- to-toed from his own 45 and with players pulling and hauling at him he thumped the ball into the top left hand corner of the net, and 0-3 from Padraig McParland (1f), with the Naomh Padraig response coming from a pointed free from their keeper. However, Naomh Padraig fought their way back into the game and by the 26th minute had reduced the lead to two but another exquisite point from CJ Sullivan, this time kicked off the outside of his boot opened up a goal lead. Naomh Padraig pointed again but on the half time whistle Padraig McParland kicked his fourth of the half to send us in with a 1-6 to 0-6 lead.
The second half was a really tight affair with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities as both teams defended resolutely. While Naomh Padraig added two points to their tally and Jay Maguire kicked a fine point, the deciding factor was a well taken goal by Dealgan Mooney which put the game to bed and saw us winners 2-7 to 0-8.
Scorers: CJ Sullivan 1-2, Padraig McParland 0-4, Jay Maguire 0-1 and Deaglan Mooney 1-0.
