ACFL Division 2 – Padraig Sarséil 0-6 Mac Dáibhéid 0-8

The senior footballers maintained their unbeaten record with a hard fought away win against Na Sarséil last Wednesday night. It was a very physical game with neither team giving an inch and when scoring opportunities did arise both teams were sometimes guilty of not converting their chances, resulting in a low scoring affair.

Points from Padraig McParland, Marcas Toner and Chris Rafferty (free) put us in control midway through the first half but Na Sarséil responded with three unanswered points to level the game. Aaron Slane converted a free from just inside the 45 metre line and Padraig McParland then restored our three point advantage with two points from close in frees to leave us 0-3 to 0-6 up at the break.

We were off the mark first in the second half with a well-taken point from Marcas Toner and when a CJ Sullivan goal bound shot was tipped over the bar, we held a five-point cushion. Na Sarséil reduced the deficit to two points and with time running out went in search of the elusive goal that would give them the win, however, we remained steadfast and solid defensively and ensured that we saw the game out to take the win 0-6 to 0-8.
