The senior footballers were soundly beaten in this round four encounter of the Intermediate Football Championship at Páirc Mac Dáibhéid by a very good Randalstown team.
Padraig McParland opened the scoring with a pointed free but Tir Na nÓg levelled before taking advantage of a misplaced kick out to score the opening goal of the day. They tagged on a further point before Padraig McParland landed a nice point to leave a goal between the sides. The Randalstown outfit then produced some outstanding football to open up an 8-point margin as we struggled to deal with their constant wave of attack. We steadied the ship and further points from Padraig McParland, (0-2) and Aaron Slane left the score 0-5 to 1-7 at the first water break. On the restart Tir Na nÓg moved up a gear and put the game to bed before half time as they kicked a further 1-5 to take a half time lead 0-5 to 2-12.
The second half fizzled out as a contest and while we added points from Caoimhin Slane, Michael Connolly (0-2) and Padraig McParland (0-2) Tir Na nÓg kept the score board ticking over to win on a deserved score line of 0-10 to 2-19.
