The senior hurlers maintained their run of good form with an emphatic win over their old adversaries St Agnes, last Monday night at Woodlands. It was the Aggies who had the first point on the scoreboard but Canice Mooney launched a long, high ball into the Aggies square, Thomas Og Toland blocked the sliotar down and Alan Rainey drilled it to the back of the net. St Agnes levelled the game with two points, one a nice long range effort. Both teams then traded a brace of points with Canice Mooney getting on the end of a Gary Nelson flick following a long puck out from Gearoid Cosgrove and Stephen McGivern converted a 65. Sean McIlhatton then took a pass from Gary Nelson and from an acute angle pointed to restore our advantage, however it was short lived as an Aggies pointed free levelled the game again. We then went down to 14 men following a sending off, however this seemed to galvanise us and we picked up the intensity of our game; Stephen McGivern pointed a free from 50 yards in a central position then added another two points before flicking the ball to the net to send us in at the break leading 2-6 to 0-6.
Stephen McGivern opened the scoring in the second half when he took possession of the sliotar from a Gearoid Cosgrove free and split the posts. The Aggies then pointed from a free, before an excellent point from Gary Nelson, Gearoid struck a long ball into the edge of the square, Stephen McGivern flicked the ball and as it hit the ground Gazza doubled on it to send it between the posts. An Aggies point followed before two Stephen McGivern points extended our lead. Two St Agnes points reduced the deficit to six. Both teams added further points with  Stephen McGivern pointing ours from a free. The final score came in the dying minutes of the game when Thomas Og Toland took the sliotar, held off the challenge of the St Agnes defenders and struck the sliotar across goal and into the net.
